Ashford Beginner's Spinning Set
Children love to watch as you transform fluffs of wool into yarn. Set includes Ashford's Classic Spindle (a good all round bottom whorl spindle for beginners and spinners making medium weight yarns), white and dyed unspun wool roving and a comprehensive instructional leaflet so you may learn how to spin!
Top Whorl Drop Spindle
While it looks you’re spinning upside down, it’s only the weight of the whorl that’s reversed and spinning is much easier than expected! We carry two sizes from Ashford of New Zealand. Both are well balanced, have strong spring wire hooks bent to help keep your yarn from arcing out of the hook. The long shafts help to balance the spindle and allow for "down the thigh" propulsion for high speed spinning. Small - diameter 2.5", weighs 1.3 oz. Large - diameter 3.75", weighs 2.75 oz. Light lacquer finish.
With clear easy-to-follow instructions, Sarah Swett helps children find out how much fun it is to weave using everything from their hands to cardboard to a portable loom assembled from ordinary plumbing parts. (Adults can try too!) Make 15 fun, inexpensive, colorful projects including note cards, friendship bracelets, rag dolls, treasure pouches, dog collars, belts, shoelaces and a West African blanket. Hardbound.

New Zealand Raw Wool
Lanolin-rich raw wool fleece with beautiful luster and wavy locks, just as it comes from the sheep. Experience the whole process of washing and transforming the wool with your children and allow them to benefit from these magical moments. Washed wool can then be turned to good use for spinning into yarn, dyeing, felting (wet and dry) or used as stuffing for your soft toy projects.

The Ashford Book of Carding
A practical and inspiring guide to fibre preparation. Detailed instructions for hand carding, drum carding, turning fleece into sliver, color blending, and fiber blending. Color theory is covered in depth. A specific resource for those interested in creating their own custom blended colors from Ashford's beautiful line of Corriedale wool. Projects included are your own color blended, spun then knitted self-striping socks, merino mittens, a triangular shawl and a merino and silk scarf.

These curved back wool carders from Ashford come complete with handcarding instructions and are proportioned for adults. Minor assembly required to glue and screw the handle in place. 72 point cloth, 4.25"x7.75" carding surface. Very durable.

The garments on our needle felted Seasonal Dolls are made of this color blended wool!
The Ashford Drum Carder quickly cards most types of wool for spinning and felting or for custom designing and producing your own 2 ounce wool batts for felting! Coarser wool can be carded, too. Just feed in smaller amounts. Clamp and doffer tool (awl) included. For fine and medium wools; Fine 72 point cloth. (Coarse model available, too.)
