Joy's Waldorf Dolls Kits
Contemplating a doll to sew? Maybe this is your first doll making project, maybe you are experienced and are ready to add new skills or perhaps you are excited to be sewing with a child in your life. Whatever the reason, A Child's Dream makes it possible for you to sew a soft and memorable natural fiber Waldorf doll that is imbued with love with every stitch.
Here a few suggestions in answer to the common questions of what to make for a new baby, an older sibling and the grades student needing more of a sewing challenge while studying the industrial age and anatomy.
For a new baby, I like Star Child doll. Having made several and seen how they are loved, I feel confident this will be a treasured gift and simple enough for the beginner doll maker to sew.
For big brother or sister, depending upon the age, I really love the Bright Eyes Doll and Little Love. Both kits are good ones for beginning doll makers, as well. Bright Eyes is a cuddly, "floppy" doll with no clothes to change. Little Love comes with clothes patterns for the child who enjoys changing clothes.
A baby doll is often just the right doll for the child wanting a baby of their own. If you've had some experience, take a serious look at the Baby Companion dolls. The construction of the legs and the sculpting of the cute bottom requires a little more skill or patience and time. Not recommended for the beginner.
In Waldorf schools, 7th or 8th graders generally make a doll. Students choose the skin, hair and eye color and the finished doll can be treasured as one's own or gifted to a younger family member, friend or child in need. Little Love and Honey Doll are suggested, with Little Love being the simpler of the two.
