Waldorf Dolls

Making a doll for the first time? Here is some sage advice for beginners from master doll maker Joy Chambers.

"A new doll maker needs to become acquainted with the doll making tools as well as understanding some sewing terms. As always, it is by practice, patience and diligence that one will yield a well-made doll and usually on the 3rd attempt. The earlier dolls will still be loved. During a workshop with a newbie who is really apprehensive about embroidering a face, I will have them practice the embroidery on the back of the head starting with the needle and floss inserted on the side of the head, under a hood or somewhere under hair area."

In other words, be kind and patient with yourself as you learn the very rewarding skill of doll making.
